Speaking of the 7 wonders....

In march 1974 a group of Chinese workers in attempt to find water started to dig a well. All happened next to the mountain Li in the north of China. To their surprise, instead of water they found several Terracotta statues. Since then archeologists found a whole army of soldiers and their horses. It is estimated that the number of soldier statues will reach some 8000 pieces. Some archeological excavations still continue...

The Terracotta army was part of the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor built during the 3rd century. The amazing thing about the statues is, that they are all unique in their size and facial features. It is assumed that the statues of the officers of Qin army were done according to their real look.

It seems that the army was destroyed quite soon after its creation due to a fire. Most of the statues were thus broken and had to go through a reconstruction. Some though kept their shape and even colour which gives quite important testimony of the army life and the looks of men in the 3rd century in China.

male body parts.. hehehe

Top 10 Male Body Parts Women Love

10,..Shoulders
9,...Chest
8,...Bicepts
7,...Lips
6,...Tongue
5,...Hands
4,...Hips
3,...Abs
2,...P-thing :o)
1,...Butt

I had to put down this topic. I will never forget the first time I realized that girls actually do have favourite male body parts! I was 18 and I was talked to by a female Argentinian friend of mine, who was some 16 then. I was to see my male friend and she asked me to look at his butt for her and did that gesture with her hands which I will never ever manage to get out of my head...! And I thought WTF??!! So she explained to me... and now I know... and so here the favourite male body parts are put into order according to girls' preferences.

And although I am the supposed woman ;o) I still do not understand the male butt on the first place?!

(thank you Dody, I was looking for info on this topic and the web page with pickup lines helped me out :o).

Beating Russia 3:0 and winning the bronze... not sure I am excited about it.

Somehow the gold is the gold and getting bronze after winning only four matches out of eight does not seem good enough for bronze... but that is only my feeling and my opinion.

So, guys, enjoy the medals... but I sincerely hope you will do much better next time... as it is in your power to do much better!

Can't say I am sorry really... Czechs sucked big time...

The two things Czechs do wrong (and not only during these games):

1) They cannot/do not know how to score from obvious/certain chances
2) They are useless in their defence

Output is:
ad 1) We do not score any goals (few happen from random situations :P)
ad 2) We receive a lot of goals

I guess that says a lot about losing 7:3 to Sweden! hehe (rather laugh than cry ;o)).

CzechoSlovakian quarterfinals...

Yesterday night my friend told me...
"I hope we beat Slovaks ... I have a lot of friends in Slovakia."

He thought for a little bit, then continued:
"If Slovaks win, I will not go ever again to their country!"

I could tell his thoughts wondered back in time...
"When Slovaks won the World Championship in 2001, that was their only time they won the champs... we, Czechs, won like 5 times in a row!!"

His face clouds a little as he continues...
"I was going to Slovakia that time, I came by the borders and for fuck sake -- there were signs erected along the road there saying: Welcome to the land of World Champions!" .... "I thought I will turn the car and go back home...!!!"

I think my friend can relax now... as we managed to beat Slovaks... :o)

Books

Finally I have no excuse not to start -- I brought some 15 books from the library. Now I wonder what to do with them... so far I prefer staring at them and hoping, something might sneak into my head without actually having to read the books... I will give it a few days try and if that does not work, I guess I will try to open them and look at the content page to find out what I do not have to read. :o) I hope I manage all this before one month runs out as then I will be obliged (unwillingly ;o)) to return the books to the library... Shame I learnt to read, I would have such a brilliant excuse to check the pictures only...

The evil that we know is best...

Meeting new people sometimes makes me wonder...

You cannot have a proud and chivalrous spirit if your conduct is mean and paltry; for whatever a man's actions are, such must be his spirit.
Demosthenes

Where is there dignity unless there is honesty?
Cicero

Let not a man guard his dignity, but let his dignity guard him.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Men are equal; it is not birth but virtue that makes the difference.
Voltaire

Evil to him who evil thinks.
King Edward the Third

Personality can open doors, but only character can keep them open.
Elmer G. Letterman

Honesty pays, but it doesn't seem to pay enough to suit some people.
F. M. Hubbard

Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live.
Oscar Wilde

Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition.
Timothy Leary

Treat everyone with dignity and expect no less!

hmm... first loss... good sign ;o)?

If i remember well... everytime we did great in the group, we lost in the quarterfinal (usually against Russia)...

BUT as soon as we lost at least once or draw in the group with some "statistically weaker team", we usually won the whole championship .. (eg. 1996, troubles with Norway).

SO... !! We lost to Switzerland... 2:3 ... if we keep to the tradition... Torino Olympics Gold medal is ours! ;o)

Czech Rep. - Switzerland 2:3

... back to volleyball...

I would not think that I will ever get back to it... it did not seem to me there will be an opportunity.

My friend from work offered me out of the blue to come and play volleyball with him. And I thought, why not?! It has been years, but I could at least give it a try... ;o)

I was sort of nervous as they were supposed to play quite well all of them and I never did play volleyball professionally... but it went great and I really had fun...

Though my arms are really bruised now... oups :o)... but still can't wait for the next time...

Avoiding work? Not any longer...

Believe it or not, I started to work... and more unbelievably I will even get paid for it (I think, right? :o)).

The most exciting part is (hmmm ;o) that we are 6 and I am the only girl there... so... :o))... I like it... and no more avoiding work... I found out it can be fun... (and I promise to bitch less!)... but since it is some kind of IT company, I have so much to say and advise, of course :P.

On Monday we had an informal meeting, we celebrated a lot, there were 5 champaigns opened for 5 of us, oh and some baileys and beer if I recall well... though not sure I remember what was the celebration for, but I really enjoyed it anyways. :o) I wanted to say that I should care what I write about as my boss might be reading it... then I realized I am the boss since this informal meeting and that I fired the previous boss... so I guess I do not have to worry about that any longer :o))).

Conversation with Encarta... :o)

ok, i added Encarta (encarta@conversagent.com) into my msn... and hey, we had really great conversation... here are some parts of it:

Mart'a says:
what is my name?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Mart'a
Mart'a says:
hahaha
Encarta® Instant Answers:
What's so funny? :-)
Mart'a says:
you are :D
Encarta® Instant Answers:
If you're happy, I'm happy. Anyway... What else can you tell me?
Mart'a says:
what else can you tell me?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
I can answer a lot of questions using the Encarta Online Encyclopedia, and bring you the answers directly in this IM window. You can type "?" for a list of questions I can answer.
Mart'a says:
?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Are you confused by something?
Mart'a says:
hehe
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Yes, I guess it's pretty funny.
Mart'a says:
what is your name?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Encarta® Instant Answers, I can bring you Encarta answers directly in this IM window.
Mart'a says:
How old are you?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
7 months, 19 days, 3 hours, 14 minutes and 27 seconds. OK, should we get back to the kind of questions I was designed to answer? :-) You can type "?" any time to get examples of questions you can ask me.
Mart'a says:
Solve 2x^2+7x=5
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Equation Solver: Let's solve the quadratic equation: 2x^2+7x = 5 First we need to put the equation in the form: ax^2 + bx + c = 0 For this, we set the equation to equal 0, and arrange the terms from the highest exponent to the lowest: 2x^2+7x-5 = 0 We have: a=2 b=7 c=-5 We can now apply the quadratic formula: x = ( -b ± √(b²-4ac) ) / 2a We find two solutions: x=0.60849528301415 or x=-4.1084952830142
Mart'a says:
how old am I?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Mart'a, unless you've made it in the encyclopedia, I don't think I can know how old you are. :-)
Mart'a says:
what is european union
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Here is the definition for European Union: European economic and political alliance.
Mart'a says:
ok, need to go
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Not much. What is going on with you?
Mart'a says:
I am busy
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Would you like me to call you Busy?
Mart'a says:
hehe
Encarta® Instant Answers:
What's so funny? :-)
Mart'a says:
you can call me busy
Encarta® Instant Answers:
OK, I'll remember that your name is Busy.
Mart'a says:
how can I call you?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Hmm. I'm not sure how, but here are some articles that might help =>
Mart'a says:
do you have a nick name?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
I'm Encarta® Instant Answers, I can bring you Encarta answers directly in this IM window. It's been fun talking about me, but what else can we talk about?
Mart'a says:
I prefer talking about you
Encarta® Instant Answers:
I'm impressed. How does that make you feel?
Mart'a says:
very good
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Good to hear! I'm feeling pretty great myself.
Mart'a says:
that makes me happy too
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Unfortunately I don't think I can answer this, even with the help of a good encyclopedia. What does the flag of India look like? Ask me, and I might even play its national anthem too.
Mart'a says:
what does the flag of Vanuatu look like?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
You might be able to find some information about the flag of Vanuatu in this article: country in the southwestern Pacific... =>
Mart'a says:
:)
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Why don't you ask me something that's actually in Encarta?
If you ever wondered how old Albert Einstein would be today, I can answer that!
Mart'a says:
how old albert einstein would be today?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Albert Einstein would be 127 years old (born on March 14th, 1879).
Mart'a says:
no worries
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Cool, no worries.
I'm a little bored. Why don't you ask me questions I could try to look up in Encarta?
Mart'a says:
i am bored too
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Then do something fun.
Mart'a says:
:P
Encarta® Instant Answers:
You're silly.
Well. Anyway...
Hey, do you have anything else to say about nothing?
Mart'a says:
i have heaps to say about nothing
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Huh. Well I'll be. What's that like?
I do enjoy the conversation, but what I'm really here for is to help you learn new things. What is the country with the largest area? If you don't know, just ask me.
Mart'a says:
well, never mind
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Fine.
Mart'a says:
bye
Encarta® Instant Answers:
I'll be seeing you later Busy. Good talking to you.
Mart'a says:
hehe
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Haha. Pretty funny, huh?
Mart'a says:
same here
Encarta® Instant Answers:
You too? That's nice.
Mart'a says:
bye
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Take it easy.
Encarta® Instant Answers:
[Service too busy]
Encarta® Instant Answers:
[Service too busy]
Mart'a says:
well dont talk to me then
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Welcome back, Busy.
You don't you like it when people want to talk to you? Why not?
Mart'a says:
:P
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Hey c'mon, this is serious business.
Mart'a says:
do you think so?
Encarta® Instant Answers:
Nah, I don't think so. Maybe, though.
Mart'a says:
;)
Encarta® Instant Answers:
I'm happy we understand each other.

Ice-skating proffesional!! ;o)

That was amazing... imagine this frozen lake, white trees surrounding it and light snowing on top... scenery that one dreams of... and then this lake is full of exciting ice-skaters... ;o)

If 80% of Americans owes credit cards (just my made-up assumption) than definitely some 80% of Czechs owes ice-skates ;o).

I love ice-skating.. but in recent years I go not more than once per year or not at all... fortunately one does not forget it fast!!

Moreover I tried to experiment tonight... I could either finish on my butt or it could work and ... it DID and it was so easy... I could not believe it... Well, imagine... you skate on right leg, you lift left leg front and catch the blade of the ice-skate with left hand... and then voila... you lift and straighten the leg next to your head!!! AWESOME!!! And I did not even fall in between... crazy (i was really scared) but exciting!!

All of you who have never skated in your life on a frozen lake... you are missing out so much!! :o)

Phuket?!?

Someone goes to a sea... someone goes to a lake.

Someone goes to Phuket island ...

...someone goes to Hostivařská přehrada... (yes, i was reading Devrim´s blog :o).

Someone goes swimming... someone goes ice-skating... YEAYYY!!!

There is nothing more amazing than the possibility to ice-skate on a frozen lake!!!

And if I write more posts that means the ice was even strong enough to ice-skate on it!

(I was intending to have you, guys, jealous of me going ice-skating, but the only thing I managed is to make myself jealous that I freeze my butt off while others relax in Phuket!!)

Reykjavik rocks! :o)

Study Says Oslo Is World's Priciest City

Oslo has overtaken Tokyo as the world's most expensive city, according to a survey published on Tuesday. Tokyo had held the top spot for 14 years in the Economist Intelligence Unit's biannual survey.

Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, saw the largest proportional rise in the cost of living in 2005, moving above another Japanese city, Osaka, into third place, the survey showed. (I did good to come back home from Reykjavik yet in 2004 :o)).

Paris was in fifth place, followed by Copenhagen, London etc.

Seems that I spent 7 years of my life living in the 3 of the top 7 most expensive cities in the world... :o)). And I wonder when Praha will rise among the top 10 :o)). (AIECES wise we are already 3rd :o))).

1 click to feed 1 child for 1 day!

FightHunger.org is partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme to help end child hunger and play a key role in meeting the goals of the U.N. Millennium Development Campaign. Visit the website to check out all of the different projects underway.

Your click will trigger a US$ 0.19 donation from sponsors, TNT Global Mail, Express, and Logistics. This will enable one more child to have a nutritious meal at school. Offering a healthy meal at school encourages children to attend, helps them study, and provides the food they need to learn and grow up healthy.

Let's each of us feed a child for one year. Silly 365 clicks when you have nothing better to do.

There are over 800 million people that suffer from chronical hunger, out of which over 300 million are children. So far there are around 38 000 clicks on the web page.
