...from Kyiv II.
Today I finally experienced what does it mean crowded transport... My bus that takes me straight to work, and whose bus stop is conveniently situated 50m from our appartment, arrived. It was drizzling, few splashes from passing cars flied towards me, so a desire to finally be in the bus was big... I guess that was the desire of more people as when the bus arrived it was crooowded. Usually many people get out on our stop, so that created "reasonable" amount of space, as I thought... But as soon as I got inside of the bus, being just by the door, as there was no way I could go further, although two of my bags did manage to get further inside, I could only feel the push from behind as another man managed to squeeze behind me. Requests from outside of the bus, for us to move were coming in in vain, but this time my conscious was definitely clear while not moving, as there simply was nowhere to be pushed further inside.
The bus attempted to close the door which made the people inside press onto one another even more, and my weekly supply of food in my bag that I carried started to slowly transform into a porridge. The bus moved on, I started to giggle as that definitely was an experience, although the sad part was that due to the rain and heat in the bus, I could not see anything... So I grabbed my glasses and with one hand I tried to clean them to enjoy the fun... which obviously only I had. Can't believe people can go through this with a straight face... especially since on the second stop, only few people left, my third bag got squeezed by the door, as well as my hand got stuck between door and a pole, so i was not forced to leave the bus while others from inside attempted to. The new bus stop was crowded even more and since only 3 people left from our door, there was no way they will get inside... at certain moment I felt someone's hand on my stomach and then that hand grabbed my coat... that was a poor try of a lady to join us in the bus, while others were shouting outside to squeeze more. They saw that people in the middle of the bus were definitely not cuddling enough. But "fortunately the door closed and I could telepathically feel the tomatoes becoming puree... The usual moment of rescue is metro stop and from then on, on any station more people get out (or try) than how many actually get in... So fortunately when my bus stop arrived I could comfortably get out, without any struggle...
And as i expect, i will be alone at work for few hours, as my coworkers will have a problem to arrive on time :o). I think I was born to be Ukrainian as after three weeks of my stay here, I already manage to get into the bus, stay in the bus for the necessary duration, get out of the bus on my stop AND get to work on time... not many can do that. :P
